"Whatever else anything is, it oughta begin by being personal"
You know that scene in You’ve Got Mail? Where Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox are chatting online about her business but they don’t know it’s with each other?
Where Joe proclaims "It’s not personal, it’s business…"
Then Kathleen later responds with:
"What is that supposed to mean? I am so sick of that. All that means is that it wasn't personal to you. But it was personal to me. It's personal to a lot of people. And what's so wrong with being personal, anyway? Whatever else anything is, it oughta begin by being personal"
That sums up pretty accurately how I feel about being a family photographer photographer in Boston. You’re not just hiring me to snap a few photos. You’re inviting me into your life to witness and preserve the moments and people that matter the absolute most. I know there are photographers who approach this work like it’s strictly business. But that’s not me. When you reach out to capture your family, your newborn, your growing belly, or your everyday chaos and beauty — that means something to me. When you tear up seeing a photo because it shows exactly how your child looks at you, or how your smile softens around them, that’s the whole point.
This isn’t just business to me. It starts with connection. It starts with care. It begins by being personal.
Lover of rainy days, my morning coffee, making things pretty, and my three sweet babies.
Don't worry, I'm not going to give you the schpeel about having a camera in my hands before I could walk. I'll just say; I see the world in photographs and art has always been at the core of who I am. I've always noticed beauty in the small places, the in between. Those are the moments I'm best at capturing in my own life, and in yours too. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and an M. Ed in Elementary Education and photographing families is where it all meets in the middle for me.
my favorite part of my job? probably your kids, but also the way you look at them with love eyes.
